Rajasthan Swine Flu Cases Rise, Health Authorities Step Up Vigilance

JAIPUR, Aug 26: Rajasthan has witnessed a rise in swine flu cases, prompting health authorities to maintain heightened surveillance as seasonal influenza infections increase across the state.
Agriculture Minister Kirodi Lal Meena tested positive for H1N1 and was admitted to the Medical ICU of Sawai Man Singh Hospital in Jaipur late Tuesday night, according to officials.
The minister was hospitalised after testing positive for swine flu, with medical staff taking additional precautions while monitoring his condition.
The development comes amid a broader increase in influenza infections in Rajasthan. The state recorded 129 swine flu cases in early August, a figure reported to be nearly eight times higher than the corresponding period last year.
The rise has renewed attention on respiratory infections during the current season. Health officials are continuing surveillance and monitoring medical facilities to ensure that patients requiring treatment can receive timely care.
Doctors generally advise people experiencing persistent fever, cough, breathing difficulty or other influenza-like symptoms to seek medical assessment, particularly when symptoms worsen.
People at greater risk of complications, including older adults, young children and those with underlying health conditions, are advised to exercise additional caution during periods of increased influenza transmission.
Authorities have also emphasised the importance of respiratory hygiene and timely medical consultation to limit the spread of seasonal infections.
The Rajasthan situation comes as the Union Health Ministry has been monitoring H1N1 preparedness nationally and stressing the need for robust surveillance and vigilance against seasonal influenza.
