Yash’s ‘Toxic’ Opens to Strong Box Office Response Despite Mixed Reviews

Mumbai, Aug 27: Yash starrer ‘Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups’ has made a powerful start at the Indian box office following its theatrical release on August 26.
The Geetu Mohandas directed film, which features Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria and Rukmini Vasanth, attracted considerable interest ahead of its release, with several cinemas adding early morning and late-night shows to accommodate demand.
Early trade figures indicated that the film crossed the Rs 50-crore mark in India before 3 pm on its opening day. The performance places the movie among the notable theatrical openings of the year.
The strong start came despite mixed reactions from viewers and criticism surrounding some of the film’s violent and intimate sequences. The movie received an ‘A’ certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification, while its Hindi version underwent changes to certain dialogues and scenes before certification.
The film marks Yash’s return to the big screen after the success of ‘KGF: Chapter 2’. Expectations surrounding the project had remained high because of his star power and the film’s distinctive visual style.
With the first-day response showing substantial audience interest, the movie’s performance over its opening weekend is expected to determine whether it can maintain its early momentum amid competition from other releases.
