England Dominate Pakistan as Pace Attack Triggers Batting Collapse at Lord’s

LONDON, Aug 29: England strengthened their position in the second Test against Pakistan at Lord’s after their fast bowlers dismantled the visitors’ batting order on the second day, leaving the hosts in firm control of the contest.
England, who had resumed their first innings on 290, made excellent use of the conditions as their pace attack repeatedly troubled Pakistan’s batters.
Ollie Robinson produced the standout spell, claiming four wickets for 11 runs from 13 overs. Jofra Archer also made a major impact, taking three wickets for 26 runs as Pakistan were bowled out for just 110.
The collapse left Pakistan 180 runs behind England on the first innings and put the hosts in a commanding position.
Azan Awais offered some resistance for Pakistan with a knock of 46, but the rest of the batting line-up struggled to withstand England’s relentless attack.
England began their second innings with a substantial advantage but lost three wickets before the close. They finished the day on 81 for three, extending their overall lead to 261 runs.
Emilio Gay remained unbeaten on 30 at the end of play, helping England negotiate the late stages of the day after Pakistan’s bowlers briefly threatened to regain some momentum.
The second Test, which began at Lord’s on August 27, is part of Pakistan’s tour of England. With three days still remaining, England are now in a strong position to push for a series victory.
Pakistan will need a significant improvement with both bat and ball if they are to prevent England from taking control of the match.
