GATE 2027 Registration: IIT Madras Announces Application Timeline and New Paper

The upcoming engineering entrance examination will feature 30 test papers, including a new paper covering Robotics and Automation.

Madras, Sep 05 : IIT Madras, the organising institute for GATE 2027, has announced key details for the upcoming Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering, including changes to the examination structure and application schedule.

A major addition to the examination is a new paper in Robotics and Automation (RA), taking the total number of GATE 2027 test papers to 30. The expansion reflects the growing importance of robotics and automation across engineering and technology sectors.

The examination is scheduled to be conducted on February 6, 7, 13, 14, 20 and 21, 2027. GATE scores are widely used for admission to postgraduate programmes and doctoral studies at participating institutions.

The examination also plays an important role in opportunities related to engineering and technical careers, with several organisations considering GATE scores as part of their recruitment processes.

Candidates preparing for the 2027 examination will therefore need to review the updated paper structure and ensure that they select the appropriate test paper while completing their applications.

The introduction of Robotics and Automation is expected to provide candidates with a dedicated assessment option in an area that has become increasingly significant in advanced manufacturing, artificial intelligence-enabled systems and industrial technology.

With the new paper added, aspirants planning to appear for GATE 2027 should carefully review the official examination information before finalising their preparation strategy.
