UGC-NET re-exam begins as NTA issues travel advisory for Delhi candidates
English and Commerce papers are being held on September 9, while the Sociology paper is scheduled for September 10 amid traffic restrictions linked to the BRICS Summit.
NEW DELHI, Sep 9: The National Testing Agency (NTA) is conducting the re-examination of three UGC-NET June 2026 papers on September 9 and 10, with candidates in Delhi advised to plan their journeys carefully because of possible traffic congestion and route diversions in the national capital.
According to the NTA, the English and Commerce papers are being conducted on September 9, while the Sociology examination is scheduled for September 10. Admit cards for the re-examination have already been issued to eligible candidates.
The testing agency issued a special advisory for candidates whose examination centres are located in Delhi, asking them to allow additional travel time and check their routes before leaving for the examination centres. The advisory comes amid traffic restrictions and diversions associated with the BRICS Summit being held in the capital.
The re-examination follows the NTA’s decision to reconduct the three papers after complaints regarding errors in the question papers. The agency had earlier announced that the English, Commerce and Sociology examinations would be held afresh.
The Delhi High Court has also sought responses from the Centre and NTA on a petition challenging the decision to conduct the re-examination. The petitioner has questioned the decision-making process and sought relief for affected candidates.
The UGC-NET examination determines eligibility for Junior Research Fellowship, assistant professorship and admission to PhD programmes. The June 2026 examination was originally conducted across multiple subjects between June 22 and 30.
Candidates appearing for the re-test have been advised to carry all required examination documents and follow the instructions mentioned on their admit cards.
