Four Militants Killed in Security Forces Operation in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
Security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation in the Akakhel area of Bara following reports of militant presence.
PESHAWAR, Sept 12: Pakistan security forces killed four militants, including a key commander, during an intelligence based operation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Saturday, police said.
The operation was carried out in the Akakhel area of Bara in Khyber district after intelligence agencies received information about the presence of militants in the area, a police official said.
The operation led to an exchange of fire between the security forces and the militants, in which four militants were killed. They were identified as commander Khalid Umar Ghazi, Malik Arab Gul, Ariana and Hanzala, according to the official.
Ghazi was allegedly involved in the blockade of the Hayatabad Toll Plaza in Peshawar a few months ago. He was also accused of involvement in several attacks targeting security forces in Peshawar, Bara and Tirah Maidan.
Following the operation, security personnel continued search operations in the surrounding areas to locate any remaining militants and ensure the area was secure.
The latest encounter comes amid a rise in militant violence across Pakistan, with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan witnessing a significant share of attacks in recent years.
