Quimcy Dsouza Reaches Asian Games Teqball Semifinal
Indian debutant advances to the last four after topping her group with two victories in Nagoya.
Nagoya, Sep 19 : India’s Quimcy Dsouza advanced to the women’s singles semifinals in teqball at the 2026 Asian Games after producing a strong performance on her debut at the continental multi-sport event.
Dsouza began her campaign with a notable 2-1 victory over Japan’s top seed Yuina Sakamoto, winning 10-12, 12-11, 13-11 in a closely contested Group A encounter.
She followed that result with a straight games 2-0 victory over Cambodia’s Koemyean DY, winning 12-9 and 12-7. The two victories placed her at the top of Group A and secured direct qualification for the semifinals.
The Indian player is scheduled to face Indonesia’s Sumaya in the last four clash on September 19. Her progress comes as teqball makes its appearance on the Asian Games programme, giving India an opportunity to compete for a medal in the sport.
The competition began ahead of the official opening ceremony of the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, which was held on Saturday. Teqball is among the events featuring Indian athletes during the early phase of the Games.
Dsouza’s run has added another Indian storyline to the opening days of the continental championship as the country’s athletes begin their medal campaign across multiple disciplines.
