Qdenga Dengue Vaccine Set for India Distribution in 2027

New Delhi: India is expected to see the introduction of the Qdenga dengue vaccine in 2027, with Dr Reddy’s Laboratories set to distribute and promote the vaccine developed by Japanese pharmaceutical company Takeda.
The vaccine is planned for people aged between four and 60 years, with its availability in India expected in the first half of 2027, subject to the required regulatory and quality clearances.
Qdenga is designed to provide protection against dengue, a mosquito-borne viral infection that continues to pose a public-health challenge in several parts of the country. The planned distribution marks a significant development in the availability of dengue prevention options in India.
Dr Reddy’s will exclusively promote and distribute the vaccine in the Indian market under an agreement with Takeda. However, the planned launch timeline remains dependent on approvals from the relevant Indian authorities.
Dengue infections can range from mild illness to severe disease requiring hospitalisation. Preventive measures such as controlling mosquito breeding sites and avoiding mosquito bites remain important alongside vaccination strategies.
The proposed introduction of Qdenga comes as health authorities and medical institutions continue to focus on reducing the burden of mosquito-borne diseases. Further details on availability, pricing and vaccination recommendations are expected as the regulatory process progresses.
