Odisha Wins PMAY-Urban Awards 2026 for Outstanding Housing Achievements
State recognised for leading reform implementation and housing completion under PMAY-U 2.0.
New Delhi, Oct 5: Odisha has received special recognition from the Centre for achieving the highest number of reforms under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban 2.0 (PMAY-U 2.0), officials said.
The state was conferred the distinction of “State with the Highest Number of Reforms Achieved in PMAY-U 2.0” at the PMAY-Urban Awards 2026 in New Delhi on Monday. Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs Tokhan Sahu presented the award to Odisha.
State Housing and Urban Development Minister Krushna Chandra Mahapatra described the recognition as a significant achievement for the state. He credited government officials, urban local bodies and other stakeholders for their efforts to improve the delivery of housing services in urban areas.
Mahapatra said the award reflects Odisha’s focus on developing a housing system that is more efficient, transparent and responsive to the needs of beneficiaries. He added that the achievement would encourage the state to intensify its efforts towards the goal of providing secure and dignified homes to all eligible urban households.
Under PMAY-U 2.0, a total of 24,625 houses have been sanctioned in Odisha. The state also secured the top position nationally in house completions between March 2025 and March 2026, according to an official statement.
The latest recognition adds to Odisha’s efforts to improve urban housing delivery and contribute to the Centre’s broader objective of ensuring access to quality housing for families across the country.
