BJP Chief Slams Congress Over Anti-SIR Protest, Says Party Is Fighting for Infiltrators

BJP president Nitin Nabin targets Rahul Gandhi and Congress over SIR protests, while praising youth participation in the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan.

VARANASI, Oct 7: BJP president Nitin Nabin on Wednesday accused the Congress and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi of supporting “infiltrators” and working with anti-social elements to create unrest, asserting that people would reject such efforts.

Nabin made the remarks as Gandhi and opposition MPs continued their protest in New Delhi, seeking the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

Speaking at an event in Varanasi to honour bikers who travelled from Vadnagar in Gujarat to Kashi as part of the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, Nabin also contrasted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s political journey with that of the Congress leadership.

He said opposition leaders were attempting to create an atmosphere of disorder in the national capital and claimed that the public would not permit their stated objectives to be achieved.

On the SIR exercise, Nabin alleged that the Opposition was questioning the democratic process because names of alleged infiltrators had been removed from electoral rolls.

Addressing Gandhi, he said people would not accept a situation in which their rights were affected by what he described as support for infiltrators. He questioned the Opposition’s concerns over the electoral-roll revision and said such actions could affect its credibility.

Nabin further alleged that opposition parties were defending individuals whom he accused of depriving Indian citizens of their rights. He said the public would respond to what he termed an “anarchist mentality”.

The BJP president also highlighted Modi’s 25 years in public office, describing the period as one marked by service and dedication. He said the prime minister had worked to promote the principles of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas and Sabka Prayas”.

Nabin credited Modi with advancing former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s vision of good governance and urged young people to contribute to the goal of making India a developed nation by 2047.

Referring to the motorcycle journey organised by the Uttar Pradesh BJP and its youth wing, Nabin praised the participants for completing the 15-20-day journey while also carrying out service activities.

He said the commitment shown by the young participants demonstrated their determination to work for the country and urged BJP workers to remain dedicated to the mission of building a developed India.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, BJP state president Pankaj Chaudhary, Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak, and BJYM president and Vadodara Lok Sabha MP Hemang Joshi attended the programme.
