Five Killed, Over a Dozen Injured in Road Accident in Central Nepal
Four students and a local resident lost their lives in the accident in Pokhara, while the injured students were admitted to two hospitals for treatment.
KATHMANDU, Oct 9: Five people, including four students, were killed and 14 others injured after a bus veered off the road in Pokhara Metropolitan City in central Nepal on Friday, police said.
The accident occurred in Pokhara, around 200 kilometres west of Kathmandu, when the bus was travelling to drop students at a tuition centre. According to police, 22 people were on board the vehicle when the crash took place.
Kaski District Superintendent of Police Nabin Karki said the deceased comprised three girls, one boy and a local resident.
The injured students were taken to Pokhara Academy of Health Science and Gandaki Medical College, where they are receiving medical treatment.
Police have initiated an investigation to establish the circumstances leading to the accident. Further details regarding the cause of the crash are awaited.
The incident has raised concerns over road safety, particularly for students travelling to educational institutions.
