UK Diaspora Groups Mark 25 Years of PM Modi’s Public Service
Indian community organisations in Britain launch commemorative events featuring cultural performances and gatherings to promote unity, inclusion and shared values.
LONDON, Oct 11: Indian diaspora organisations across the United Kingdom have launched a series of events to commemorate Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 25 years in public service, highlighting Indian cultural heritage, community engagement and the values of unity and inclusion.
The inaugural programme was held on Saturday at the House of Lords complex and hosted by Lord Rami Ranger, chair of the Sardar Patel Memorial Society.
The event celebrated India’s cultural diversity through traditional Assamese and Odissi dance performances, a violin recital and a ceremonial cake cutting ceremony.
According to the organisers, the celebrations are inspired by the Indian philosophy of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, which translates to “the world is one family”. The principle emphasises harmony, inclusiveness and cooperation among people from different backgrounds.
In a statement, the organisers said the initiative seeks to promote universal values such as peace, courage, happiness, prosperity and new beginnings. They also stressed that the events are non-political and focus on public service and the principles that bring communities together.
Separately, the British Bharatiya Community, comprising organisations including Indian Diaspora (ID) UK, Slough Mitra Mandal and the Shri Vitthal Rukmini Temple in Buckinghamshire, has announced a community gathering in Ruislip, west London, on October 17.
The upcoming event aims to strengthen relationships within the Indian community and celebrate shared cultural and social values. Organisers said the gathering would provide an opportunity for families, friends and community members to come together in a spirit of friendship and optimism.
The programme, titled “25 Years of Public Service”, is intended to encourage collective progress and reinforce community connections while recognising the milestone in Modi’s public life.
Through cultural programmes and community activities, participating organisations hope to bring people together and highlight the contribution of Indian diaspora groups to community life in Britain.
The celebrations also provide a platform for members of the Indian-origin community to preserve their cultural traditions while promoting mutual understanding and cooperation in their adopted country.
