Krithi Shetty to Enter Bollywood With New Love Story, Rohit Shetty’s Protégé to Direct

Mumbai, Oct. 14: Actress Krithi Shetty is reportedly preparing to make her Bollywood debut with an upcoming romantic film directed by Vidhi Ghodgaonkar, a filmmaker associated with director Rohit Shetty. The project could mark a new chapter in the career of the young performer, who has established herself in South Indian cinema.

According to reports published on October 13, the film is being developed as a love story, although its title, supporting cast and detailed storyline have not yet been officially announced. Shooting is expected to begin later this year, subject to the production schedule.

The reported casting has generated interest because Krithi has primarily worked in Telugu and other South Indian film industries. A Hindi-language project would introduce her to a wider audience and give her an opportunity to explore a different market.

However, the makers have yet to release a formal announcement confirming the film’s complete details. Information about the production should therefore be treated as reported rather than officially finalised.

A new opportunity for Krithi Shetty

Krithi Shetty gained widespread recognition with the Telugu film Uppena, released in 2021. Her performance helped establish her as a promising young actor and opened the door to further opportunities in regional cinema.

She subsequently appeared in films including Shyam Singha Roy, Bangarraju, The Warriorr and Custody. These projects allowed her to work across different genres and alongside established performers.

Her reported move into Hindi cinema reflects a broader trend in the Indian entertainment industry, where actors increasingly work across language boundaries. Performers who establish a following in one regional industry can attract opportunities in other markets as filmmakers seek fresh faces and wider audience reach.

For Krithi, a Bollywood debut could provide access to a new group of viewers while allowing her to build on the experience gained through her earlier projects.

Vidhi Ghodgaonkar to direct the romantic drama

The reported film is expected to be directed by Vidhi Ghodgaonkar, described in media reports as a protégé of Rohit Shetty. Further information about the director’s previous work and the creative team behind the project remains limited.

A romantic drama would offer Krithi an opportunity to take on a Hindi-language role centred on relationships and emotional storytelling. However, the precise tone of the film, its characters and the direction of its narrative have not been revealed.

The involvement of a filmmaker connected to an established director may also draw attention to the project, although the film’s eventual reception will depend on its execution, performances and script.

Cross-industry opportunities continue to grow

The Indian film industry has increasingly moved towards collaborations involving actors, directors and technicians from different linguistic backgrounds. This trend has created new opportunities for performers to reach audiences beyond their established markets.

Streaming platforms, dubbed releases and nationwide theatrical distribution have also helped regional films find viewers across India. As a result, actors who were once primarily associated with a single language industry can develop recognition among a broader audience.

Krithi’s reported Bollywood debut would fit into this changing environment. Nevertheless, entering a new industry brings its own challenges, including audience expectations, competition and the need to establish a distinct screen identity.

The upcoming film’s casting and promotional strategy will become clearer once the makers release additional details.

For now, the project remains an anticipated development in Krithi Shetty’s career, with further announcements expected to clarify the production timeline, cast and release plans.
