Srinagar, 30 Oct: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Provincial President Showkat Ahmad Mir Friday reiterated the party’s unwavering commitment to the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s special status and full statehood. He said that the National Conference has always represented the rights, identity and dignity of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and will continue to raise their voice with full strength on every democratic and constitutional platform.

The Provincial President urged party functionaries and workers to remain prepared to face the prevailing circumstances and all emerging challenges, while further strengthening their engagement with the people. He said that the real strength of the National Conference lies in the trust of the people and the selfless dedication of its workers. Every party worker, he said, must work with unity, discipline and determination to carry forward the party’s mission.

He asserted that depriving the people of Jammu and Kashmir of their constitutional rights can neither suppress their voice nor silence the National Conference. He said the party would continue to raise the concerns of the people in every forum, democratic institution and appropriate platform across the country, while pursuing all peaceful, democratic and constitutional means for securing their democratic, constitutional and legal rights.

Showkat said that since 2015, the people of Jammu and Kashmir have endured prolonged hardships, uncertainty and numerous challenges, severely affecting their daily lives, economy and livelihood opportunities. In such circumstances, he said, providing maximum relief to the people has become an urgent necessity and remains the foremost priority of the present government.

He appreciated the welfare measures undertaken by the government led by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, stating that the government is working on the ground to address public grievances, improve basic amenities, accelerate developmental activities and provide relief to people facing various difficulties.

He said the induction of additional ministers into the Cabinet has created further avenues for addressing public grievances and ensuring better public service delivery, adding that the benefits of this expansion would become increasingly visible to the people.
While acknowledging that the government continues to face constraints due to limited powers, financial difficulties, administrative hurdles and other challenges, he maintained that it is moving in the right direction and utilising all available resources to serve the people.

He reiterated that the National Conference remains steadfast in its commitments and principles, adding that the party’s democratic struggle for the restoration of the dignity, identity, special constitutional rights and statehood of the people of Jammu and Kashmir would continue with full vigour, responsibility and determination.
