Sharad Pawar Admitted to Mumbai Hospital After Discharge from Pune Hospital

The NCP (SP) chief was shifted to Mumbai for further medical tests after being treated for chest pain and a cough at Ruby Hall Clinic in Pune.

MUMBAI, Nov 4: Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) president Sharad Pawar was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai on Wednesday, shortly after being discharged from a healthcare facility in Pune.

His daughter, Baramati MP Supriya Sule, confirmed the development through a social media post.

The 85-year-old politician had been admitted to Ruby Hall Clinic in Pune on November 2 after experiencing a cough and pleuritic chest pain. He was discharged earlier on Wednesday following medical observation and tests.

Pawar’s aide, Vitthal Maniyar, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to the veteran leader by phone earlier in the day to enquire about his health.

According to Maniyar, the prime minister expressed concern and advised Pawar to take adequate rest. Modi also told him that Sule and others would take care of the country’s affairs while he recovered.

Pawar thanked the prime minister for his concern and said he was resting, Maniyar added.

Dr Purvez K Grant, chief cardiologist and chairman of Ruby Hall Clinic, had earlier said Pawar was admitted for a general check-up and medical observation after complaining of pleuritic pain.

The condition refers to chest discomfort that generally intensifies during breathing, coughing or sneezing.

Pawar’s admission to Breach Candy Hospital is for further medical evaluation.
