Magnitude 4.2 Earthquake Jolts Nepal’s Humla District

The early morning earthquake struck Karnali Province at 7:10 am, with tremors reported in Mugu and Bajhang; no damage was immediately reported.

KATHMANDU, Nov 6: An earthquake measuring 4.2 on the Richter scale struck Nepal’s Humla district in Karnali Province on Friday morning, according to the National Earthquake Monitoring and Research Centre.

The tremor was recorded at 7:10 am in Humla, located approximately 700 kilometres northwest of Kathmandu, the monitoring agency said.

The seismic activity was also felt in neighbouring Mugu and Bajhang districts, causing tremors across parts of the region.

There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage to property following the earthquake.

Authorities had not reported any major disruption in the affected areas, while further details regarding the impact of the tremor were awaited.

The Himalayan region is considered seismically active because of the ongoing collision between the Indian and Eurasian tectonic plates, which generates frequent earthquakes across Nepal and neighbouring areas.
