World Book and Copyright Day are celebrated on April 23rd to promote the enjoyment of books and reading. For years, books have been our companions. These are the repositories of information and documented experiences that allow us to learn and progress in life. We recognize that readers are always leaders since they inspire and lead others in different sectors. Books have long symbolized humanity’s ability to conjure up worlds, both real and imagined, and to give voice to the diversity of human experience. Books have always been a source of hope, and they encourage people to talk to one another. Storytelling, like reading and other book-related activities, is an extremely powerful method for educating younger generations. Books are undeniably important vehicles for accessing, transmitting, and promoting education, science, culture, and knowledge around the world.

In this regard, our J&K districts, tehsils, and block libraries must improve and raise awareness about books, foster reading habits, and encourage the enjoyment of books and reading among students and citizens alike. To enhance annual user footfall, a special membership campaign should be conducted.
Let us also remember the occasion and urge others to read books all year long. We have concerns since digital resources are more easily available than traditional literature. The best companions are the books. Books are a rich collection of information and wisdom. Books are special in that they have the power to entertain as well as educate.
