09-07-2022 : The Dogra Sadar Sabha (DSS) has expressed shock at the loss of lives due to the Natural Clamity that occurred on Friday at the Shri Amarnath Shrine and conveyed its condolences to next of kin of the victims of the tragedy. Stating this in a press conference held at Dogra Hall Jammu Th. Gulchain Singh Charak, Former Minister and President DSS, also acknowledged the immediate rescue and relief measures initiated by the UT administration, he said that, earlier, in a special meeting of its Executive Committee held under his chairmanship, at the Sabha Bhawan, Dogra Hall Jammu, observed two minutes silence as ‘Shrdhanjali’ to the unfortunate pilgrims who lost their lives at the feet of Shri Amarnath ji Shrine in a cloud burst as also for the former Japanese Premier Mr Shinjo Abe brutally murdered in Japan. “He was a friend of India” he said.
President DSS further stated that DSS admired LG’s bold action to cancel the corruption ridden selection of the Sub Inspectors but insisted that the interests of honest and meritorious aspirants who were selected or could have been selected in fairness, must not be compromised, otherwise many may be rendered overage for no fault of theirs.
Sh Charak said that DSS also thanks the Hon’ble Lt Governor Shri Manoj Sinha for the decision to enhance the ex-gratia relief to NoKs of Services martyrs within and outside J&K, and expressed hope that the annuities paid to Gallantry awardees will also be enhanced similarly and brought at par with other soldiering States like Punjab, Chandigarh, Haryana, Maharashtra and Rajasthan.
He said that the committee also conveyed gratefulness for the LG’s assurance to have the conservation of the Mubarak Mandi Heritage Complex expedited and to get the inclusion of the complex in the Tentative list of UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITES followed up, as has already been forwarded to UNESCO through Archeological Survey of India by Director Archives, Archeology & Museum J&K in December 2020. DSS further reiterated that the historic Mubarak Mandi Archives need to be properly modernized and maintained ‘within the complex’ as already approved in the Conservation Plan, and should not be shifted outside.
Sh Charak also disclosed that it was noted with concern in the meeting that the important Purmandal/ Uttar Behni Shrines of religious pilgrimage (Chhota Kashi) have been omitted from the Shri Amarnath Yatra Shrine Guide Book published by the Tourism Department and the project for the proper restoration and development of the these pilgrimage centers was also languishing.
He further emphasized that the ancient traditional water bodies in and around Jammu should be properly maintained as they are helpful in maintaining the receding sub-soil water level in Jammu which is the life line of the water supply system of the region and suggested to immortalize these water bodies by naming them after great personalities and suggested names for some larger ponds like Rajinder Sarovar at Rajinder Singh Pura, General Baj Singh Sarovar at Badhori, Maharani Charak Sarovar at Birpur and Pt. Prem Nath Dogra Sarovar at Smailpur besides some other names of distinguish personalities of Duggar Pradesh.
Sh Charak also expressed concern over the malfunctioning of the Light & Sound programme, Musical Fountain and the Laser Show at Bagh-e-Bahu and said that it should be conducted regularly, un-interrupted with adequate standby power supply and operation facilities. He pointed out that even the condition of the approach Road to Bagh-e-Bahu is in a pathetic condition which needs immediate repairs and resurfacing, and stressed that Bawe Wali Maata, (Bahu Fort) Aquarium, Bagh-e Bahu Light and Sound/ Laser show and Balidan Stambh should be better sign posted, projected and hyped as a package for ‘pilgrimage, recreation and patriotism” in the Amarnath Yatra Guide Book and other tourism handouts.
