Mehbooba Mufti Former Chief Minister J&K Set Free From Detention

PDP president and former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir Mehbooba Mufti set freed after being in preventive detention for more than 14 months following the abrogation of Article 370 last year.

Omar Abdullah,  welcome the move. “I am pleased to hear that Mehbooba Mufti Sahiba has been released after more than a year in detention. Her continued detention was a travesty and was against the basic tenets of democracy,” he said in a tweet.

Soon after her release, Mehbooba in her audio message on Twitter vowed to fight for the restoration of the special status of Jammu and Kashmir. She also demanded the release of all those who are jailed in different parts of the country.
In her message, she said: “I have been released after over a year today. During all this time the black decision of the black day was always haunting my heart and soul. I feel that it would have been the feeling of all the people of Jammu and Kashmir. None among us can forget that day’s robbery and insult. Now we have to take a pledge that what was undemocratically, unconstitutionally, and illegally snatched from us by the Centre we have to take it back. And besides this, we have to continue our fight for the resolution of the Kashmir issue for which thousands have sacrificed lives.
I know this is a very difficult path but I hope that our determination can help us in achieving our goal. Today when I was released I want all those jailed in different jails of the country to be released”.

In an order issued by Principal Secretary to the Government, Home Department, Shaleen Kabra, in exercise of powers conferred under section 19 (1) of the Jammu and Kashmir Public Safety act , 1978,  the government hereby revokes the detention order bearing, No DMS/PSA/147/2020 dated 5-2-2020 issued by the district magistrate, Srinagar which was last extended for a period of three months vide government order number Home/PB-V/1`449 of 2020 dated 31-07-2020 of Mehbooba Mufti D/o Late Mufti Muhammad Sayeed R/o /Bijbehara at present Nowgam Srinagar with immediate effect.
