CBI Arrests a Jr.Assistant of Consumer Affairs & Public Distribution Department for accepting Bribe

 

RAJOURI: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a Junior Assistant working in the office of Food Supply Officer, Consumer Affairs & Public Distribution, Rajouri for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.22,500/- from the father of the complainant.

A case was registered on a complaint against accused u/s 7 of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (as amended in 2018) on the allegations that the accused demanded a bribe of Rs.22,500/- (30% of commission amount) for crediting carriage & commission amount of Rs. 75,419/- in the account of complainant’s father (a ration dealer in Manjakote, Rajouri for the supply of food items under PDS). After the credit of the said amount, the accused was pressurizing the complainant & his father for payment of a bribe.

CBI laid a trap and caught the accused red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs.22,500/-. Searches were conducted at the residential & official premises of the accused in Rajouri (J&K).

The arrested accused is being produced today before the Court of Special Judge, Anti-Corruption (CBI Cases), Jammu.
