22-02-2023 : On Wednesday, the State Investigation Agency (SIA) of Jammu and Kashmir Police conducted raids on four premises of narco terror suspects and apprehended three individuals who were operating the syndicate. The SIA stated that their goal was to target the financial networks of terror outfits and completely dismantle their ecosystem and support structure. The searches were conducted in multiple districts, including Anantnag, Pulwama, Budgam, and Baramulla.
The searches were carried out on the residential premises of Abdul Rashid Bhat, Danish Farooq, Abdul Rashid Mir, and Ovais Gul Bhat, who were suspected of involvement in the transportation and sale of narcotics. The investigation was carried out under the direction of the Court of Special Judge, designated under NIA Act (TADA/POTA) Srinagar in connection with the investigation of case FIR No.19/2022, U/S 8/21,29 NDPS Act, 13,17, 18, 39,40 UA (P) Act read with section 120-B, 121, 121 A IPC of P/S CI/SIA Srinagar, registered in Police Station CIK (SIA) Kashmir.
The investigation has revealed a narco terror module that was being operated by proscribed terrorist organizations across the border in coordination with handlers based at Central Jail Srinagar. The syndicate had managed to smuggle approximately 24 kg of narcotics worth crores of rupees from Pakistan, transport it through human couriers, and sell it to dealers in different places. The sale proceeds were then used to finance terror activities and personal financial enrichment of the syndicate members.
Three members of the syndicate, including a woman, have been arrested thus far. The SIA’s actions demonstrate their commitment to dismantling the financial networks of terror outfits and preventing them from carrying out their nefarious activities in the region.
