Congress authorizes party chief Kharge to nominate CWC members
Congress plenary to bring 16 amendments to party's constitution, former leaders to get representation in CWC
24-02-2023: On Friday, the Congress steering committee unanimously agreed to delegate the authority to party president Mallikarjun Kharge to nominate members of the working committee, which is the highest decision-making body of the party. Jairam Ramesh, the Congress general secretary for communications, stated that the committee had a free discussion regarding the CWC elections, with both pro and con opinions expressed by several members among the 45 present.
Ramesh expressed confidence that the unanimous decision would be supported by all AICC and PCC delegates. He also revealed that the plenary would discuss 16 amendments to the party’s constitution, including granting representation to all former prime ministers and presidents in the Working Committee.
