Former Samajwadi Party Leader Mulayam Singh Yadav posthumously conferred Padma Vibhushan

05-04-2023 : At the Padma Awards ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan, the late Mulayam Singh Yadav, a former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and founder of the Samajwadi Party, was posthumously conferred the Padma Vibhushan. President Droupadi Murmu presented the award, which was received by Mulayam Singh Yadav’s son and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Akhilesh Yadav.

Mulayam Singh Yadav, also known as ‘Netaji’, passed away on October 10, 2022, at the age of 82. He was a 10-time member of the Uttar Pradesh assembly and a seven-time member of the Lok Sabha. His name was included in this year’s Padma Awards list, announced by the government on the eve of Republic Day. The Padma Vibhushan is the second-highest civilian award in India.
