09-06-2023 : On Friday, a landslide in the Hasti area of Kishtwar district resulted in the closure of the Sarthal-Kishtwar road, causing a halt in vehicular movement. Officials reported that the incident took place in the morning when a massive rock rolled down the hill, obstructing the road. Fortunately, no casualties were reported in the incident. However, authorities immediately initiated efforts to clear the road and restore normalcy. Currently, work is underway to remove the debris and reopen the road for commuters.
The Sarthal-Kishtwar road is a crucial route that serves as a lifeline for approximately 20,000 people in the region on a daily basis. The closure of this road due to the landslide has disrupted the transportation system and caused inconvenience to the local residents and commuters who rely on it for their daily commute and transportation of goods.
