Anti-Corruption Bureau Jammu trapped and arrested Head Constable Mohd Rafiq of Police Station Akhnoor while accepting bribe of Rs. 10,000/-

ACB Jammu received a complaint on 10.11.2020 where complainant alleged that his vehicle was hit by an army vehicle at Tanda Akhnoor on 07.10.2020 in which he was injured. At this, a case FIR was registered at Police Station, Akhnoor. In the said case, Investigating Officer namely HC Mohd Rafiq of P/S Akhnoor demanded an amount of Rs. 10000/- on the pretext that he will prepare the charge sheet against the Army vehicle driver. He will produce the challan against him in case he did not pay him 10,000/-
On the basis of this complaint, case FIR No.20/2020 U/S 7 Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act 2018 r/w PC Act 1988 was registered at PS ACB Jammu. A team was constituted to lay a trap. The ACB team laid the trap in which the accused, namely HC Mohd Rafiq of Police Station Akhnoor was caught red-handed while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs. 10000/- from the complainant.
Subsequently, search was also conducted at the residence of accused namely HC Mohd Rafiq.
Investigation of the case is going on.
