Government Withdraws Flat Rate Electricity Charges for Employees Residing in Official Quarters
14-07-2023 : The Government to withdraw its 2013 order regarding the payment of electricity charges by its employees residing in official quarters in Srinagar and Jammu has garnered attention and raised concerns among government employees. The previous order, Government Order No. 301-GAD of 2013, dated 20.02.2013, had allowed government employees residing in government quarters to pay their electricity charges at flat rates.
With the withdrawal of this order, government employees residing in these quarters will no longer enjoy the privilege of paying a fixed, flat rate for their electricity consumption. The immediate effect of this decision is that government employees will now be required to pay their electricity charges based on actual consumption, just like any other consumer.
