4 to 6 years rigorous imprisonment with fine of Rs. 10 lakh then Sub Post Master & others

17-11-2020:The Special Judge, CBI Court, Asansol (West Bengal) has sentenced Sh. Subir Mukherjee, the then Sub Post Master, Kharsauli Bazar Post Office, Raniganaj (West Bengal) to undergo six years Rigorous Imprisonment with fine of Rs. 10 lakh and his wife Smt. Mala Mukherjee to undergo four years RI with a fine of Rs. 10 lakh for possessing disproportionate assets.

CBI had registered the case on 07.11.2006 against the accused and his wife. It was alleged that during the period 01.01.2000 to 23.04.2006, the accused had acquired huge assets in their names to the tune of Rs. 1,29,36,202/- (approx.). After investigation, a charge sheet was filed against the said accused.

The Trial Court found the accused guilty and convicted them.
