Vikar Rasool Wani Accuses Modi Government of Wrong Policies, Urges Jammu and Kashmir Congress to Challenge Anti-People Regime in Elections

J&K Congress Chief Asks Workers To Gear Up For Upcoming ULB, Panchayat Elections

02-09-2023 : Jammu and Kashmir Congress President, Vikar Rasool Wani, has issued a rallying call to party members, urging them to prepare for the forthcoming urban local bodies (ULB) and panchayat elections. During a recent meeting with party workers, Wani emphasized that deserving candidates would be backed by the party, emphasizing their commitment to selecting the most qualified individuals.

In his address, Wani did not mince words in criticizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government and the BJP for what he described as detrimental policies that have severely impacted the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He accused the ruling party of encroaching upon the rights of the region’s residents concerning land and employment opportunities while demoting the state to the status of a Union Territory.

Wani called upon Congress members to prepare to challenge what he referred to as an “anti-people, anti-youth, anti-student, anti-farmer” regime in the upcoming elections. He urged party leaders at various levels, including districts, blocks, wards, and observers, to identify and shortlist potential candidates for the ULB elections, assuring that those with merit would receive the party’s endorsement.

Without naming specific parties, Wani cautioned against politicians who exploit emotional issues for the sake of vote bank politics and called for their isolation. He criticized such parties for failing to fulfill their promises and sowing unrest in different parts of society. He encouraged the people to identify these political entities as detrimental to their interests and sources of mistrust and discord.

In a bid to foster unity, Wani called on the people of the Jammu region to unite against divisive and separatist forces, commending them for their commitment to religious harmony and togetherness despite provocations by vested interests.

Wani also laid blame on what he deemed the flawed policies of the Narendra Modi-led government, asserting that these policies had wreaked havoc on the country and, more specifically, on Jammu and Kashmir. He highlighted issues such as the loss of employment opportunities and land rights, as well as the conversion of the state into a Union Territory. Wani also pointed out grievances related to property taxes, toll plazas, smart electricity meters, and unemployment, all of which have contributed to the suffering of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, according to his assessment.
