16-10-2023 : In Jammu and Kashmir, a father and son have been implicated in a case of forgery and fraudulent activity, and a chargesheet has been presented in a local court for their alleged creation of a false school-leaving certificate (SLC) to secure a government job. The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Crime Branch (CB) has filed the chargesheet against Bashir Ahmed and his son Mukhtyar Ahmed from R S Pura. They are accused of conspiring to create a fake SLC to secure a government job in the Power Development Department (PDD) of J&K.
The case originated from a written complaint by a concerned individual named Sarfarz Ahmed. He alleged that the SLC issued in favor of Mukhtyar Ahmed in 1979 was not genuine. Sarfarz Ahmed based his complaint on information obtained from the Chief Education Officer (CEO) of Jammu through the Right to Information (RTI) Act. The investigation revealed that the certificate produced by Mukhtyar Ahmed was fraudulent, as it was initially issued in the name of one Nazia Bano.
Based on substantial records and other pieces of evidence, it has been determined that the accused father and son colluded in a criminal conspiracy to forge the SLC for illicit gains. This case underscores the significance of verifying the authenticity of documents and the consequences of engaging in fraudulent activities, particularly when seeking government employment.
