National President Zila Panchayat Association embarks on three-day visit to J&K
Interacts with PRI members, emphasizes unity & effective governance
JAMMU, November 26: Kailas Gore Patil, Convenor and President of the National Zila Panchayat Association (NZPA), a registered body representing Panchayat Raj Institutions (PRIs) across India, undertook a crucial three-day visit to the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory (JKUT) from November 23 to 25, 2023. The visit aimed to strengthen ties between PRI members nationwide, promote unity among representatives, and gain insights into the functioning of PRIs in JKUT.
Upon arriving in Jammu, Kailas Gore Patil and his esteemed guests, National Mahila Adhyaksh Sarita Ghakhare and Vice President Jaimangal Jadhav, were warmly welcomed by the President of Jammu and Kashmir’s NZPA, Col Mahan Singh (Retd), DDC Chairman Kathua.
A central function was organized at Panchayat Bhawan in Jammu to mark the commencement of the visit. The event was presided over by Col Mahan Singh and witnessed the participation of a large gathering of Panchayat representatives, including Chairpersons, Vice Chairpersons, and members of the DDC and BDC.
During the Vichar Sabha/Interaction program held on November 25, Col Mahan delivered a comprehensive presentation that provided an overview of Jammu and Kashmir’s unique socio-political landscape. He shed light on the challenges faced by PRIs in the Union Territory and highlighted the significant strides made by the Panchayats of JKUT following the abrogation of Article 370 and the implementation of the three-tier system.
Col Mahan Singh expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha for their unwavering commitment to strengthening PRIs in JKUT, as evidenced by the successful conduct of DDC and BDC elections in the region.
Addressing the gathering, Kailas Gore Patil underscored the NZPA’s mission to unite all PRI members across political parties nationwide, fostering a spirit of collaboration and collective action. He drew upon his experiences from his visits to northern India, including JKUT, to highlight the growing representation and powers of PRIs in the country.
Gore Patil engaged in a lively discussion with the PRI members present, encouraging them to share their perspectives and challenges. He emphasized the importance of PRI members working together to address the needs of their communities and ensuring the effective implementation of government schemes at the grassroots level.
In concluding the event, Col Mahan Singh expressed his heartfelt gratitude to all attendees for their active participation and valuable contributions to the discussion.
