Rahul Gandhi Unveils Congress’ Vision: Caste Census and Wealth Mapping to Drive Inclusive Development

UP, 19-02-2024 : In a fervent address during the ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi laid out a bold vision for India’s future, promising transformative measures if his party comes to power. Central to this vision is the commitment to conduct a comprehensive caste census, which Gandhi likened to an “X-ray of the country,” aiming to provide insights into the socio-economic landscape. Additionally, he emphasized the importance of mapping wealth resources to unveil the distribution of wealth across the nation, thus empowering policy-making with crucial data.

Accusing the BJP and RSS of sowing seeds of division and hatred, Gandhi condemned what he perceives as a marginalization of marginalized communities under the current regime. He lamented the stark inequality in budget allocations, where the majority of the population receives a disproportionately minimal share, leading to deep-seated injustices that undermine the nation’s fabric.

Highlighting the imperative of inclusive development, Gandhi asserted that without uplifting the two-thirds of the population currently left behind, India’s journey towards prosperity remains incomplete. He underscored the need to address systemic inequalities and ensure equitable access to opportunities for all sections of society.

Echoing Gandhi’s sentiments, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge lambasted Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of neglecting the welfare of farmers, laborers, Dalits, tribals, and other marginalized groups. The rhetoric intensified as Union minister Smriti Irani, Gandhi’s rival from Amethi, took the stage, ridiculing Gandhi’s reception in the constituency and challenging him to contest elections solely from Amethi.

Gandhi also seized the opportunity to critique the Centre’s handling of the situation in Manipur, decrying the lack of attention from the Prime Minister despite escalating tensions in the region. He further denounced the underrepresentation of OBCs, Dalits, and tribals in government institutions, highlighting the glaring disparity in the distribution of power and resources.

Turning his attention to recent events, Gandhi denounced the absence of OBC and tribal representation at the Ayodhya Ram temple consecration ceremony, alleging a systemic exclusion of marginalized voices. He reiterated Congress’ commitment to championing the interests of farmers amid ongoing protests, promising meaningful dialogue and action if entrusted with power.

The ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’ continued its journey through Amethi, with Gandhi receiving a warm welcome from supporters. Amidst showers of flowers and enthusiastic greetings, Gandhi paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi, symbolizing his commitment to their legacies of justice and equality.

As the yatra progressed, Gandhi’s convoy made a night halt in Fursatganj, gearing up to resume its journey towards Raebareli on the following day.
