IAS Officer Puja Khedkar’s Demands Lead to Pune Transfer Amid Controversy

Maharashtra's IAS Trainee Puja Khedkar Transferred Over Lavish Requests

MAHARASHTRA, July 11: In Maharashtra, a probationary IAS officer, Puja Khedkar of the 2023 batch, has been transferred from Pune to Washim district in central Maharashtra before completing her training due to a controversy surrounding her demands for special accommodations. According to an official letter, Khedkar will now serve as a “supernumerary assistant collector” in Washim until July 30, 2025, to complete her training.

Before commencing her duties on June 3, Khedkar reportedly insisted on having a separate cabin, a car, residential quarters, and a peon. Despite being informed that these amenities were not entitled to her during her probationary period, she persisted in her demands. Pune collector Suhas Diwse submitted a report to the General Administration Department highlighting these demands and also noted an incident where Khedkar allegedly removed the nameplate of a senior official at the Pune collector’s office after using his ante-chamber as her office space. Consequently, Diwse recommended against allowing Khedkar to continue her training in Pune, leading to her transfer to Washim district.
