“Make J&K Prosper Again” – Rahul Gandhi Calls for Massive Turnout for INDIA Bloc in Crucial Assembly Polls

Historic J&K Elections: Rahul Gandhi Urges Voters to Reject “Era of Injustice” with INDIA Bloc Vote

New Delhi, Sep 18: Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, addressed the voters of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday, urging them to cast their ballots in favor of the INDIA bloc. He emphasized that each vote for the bloc will be a step towards restoring their rights and bringing employment opportunities to the region.

As voting commenced for the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections, marking the first such event since the abrogation of Article 370, Gandhi highlighted the significance of this election. For the first time, a state’s status had been downgraded to a Union Territory—a move he described as a violation of constitutional rights and an affront to the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

In a message posted on X, Gandhi said, “My dear brothers and sisters of Jammu and Kashmir, today marks a historic moment with the beginning of the first phase of voting. The unprecedented decision to strip the state of its status and reduce it to a Union Territory represents a grave insult to your rights and heritage.”

He continued, “Every vote cast in support of the INDIA bloc will contribute to the restoration of your rights, stimulate job creation, empower women, and help lift Jammu and Kashmir out of an era of injustice. It is a crucial step towards reviving the prosperity of the region.”

Gandhi urged the electorate to participate in large numbers, stating, “Today, make sure you come out in droves to exercise your democratic right. Vote for the INDIA bloc to reclaim your rights and secure a brighter future for Jammu and Kashmir.”

This assembly election is historically significant as it marks the first since Jammu and Kashmir was reconstituted as a Union Territory following the abrogation of Article 370 on August 5, 2019. The initial phase of this three-phase election encompasses 24 constituencies across seven districts, where more than 23 lakh voters will cast their ballots to decide the fate of 219 candidates, including 90 Independents, across 24 assembly segments. The remaining phases of voting are set for September 25 and October 1, with the results scheduled to be counted on October 8.
