Rahul Gandhi: Haryana Demands a Farmer-Centric Government, Not an Adani Regime
Congress's Vision for Haryana: Empowering Farmers and Restoring Dignity, Says Rahul Gandhi
Ambala, Sep 30: Rahul Gandhi, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, asserted on Monday that the citizens of Haryana are increasingly inclined to support the Congress Party in the upcoming elections, expressing their desire for a government that prioritizes the interests of farmers over corporate entities like Adani. Speaking at a public gathering at the HUDA Ground in Naraingarh, Gandhi emphasized, “This is not a government led by Prime Minister Modi, but rather one that serves Adani’s interests. The people of Haryana require a government that champions the rights of farmers, laborers, and the underprivileged.”
Gandhi criticized the BJP’s decade-long governance, stating that it has resulted in rampant inflation, rising unemployment, and policies detrimental to the state’s workforce, such as the Agnipath scheme. He pledged that the Congress Party would establish a government dedicated to the welfare of all citizens while safeguarding their dignity.
Addressing the contentious farm laws, the Raebareli MP questioned the Modi administration’s intentions, remarking, “If these laws were truly designed for the betterment of farmers, why did we witness massive protests across the nation?” He accused Prime Minister Modi of favoring his corporate allies through debt forgiveness, leaving hardworking farmers disillusioned.
Gandhi outlined his vision for economic relief, promising to redirect the financial resources that have disproportionately benefited Adani and Ambani back to the people. He stated that upon the Congress Party’s return to power, women would receive monthly payments of ₹2,000, gas cylinders would be priced at ₹500, and households would benefit from free electricity up to 300 units.
Furthermore, he committed to creating a “drug-free Haryana” and pledged to provide two lakh permanent jobs for the youth. For farmers, the Congress Party promises legal guarantees for Minimum Support Price (MSP) and prompt compensation for crop losses.
Additionally, he reiterated the party’s call for a caste census, asserting that a Congress government would ensure that individuals from all castes receive their rightful entitlements.
