ACB Registers FIR in Disproportionate Assets Case, Conducts Raids in Srinagar and Ganderbal

Srinagar, March 6: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Srinagar, has registered a First Information Report (FIR) against a former government official for allegedly amassing disproportionate assets beyond his known sources of income. The accused, Ghulam Mohammad Bhat, a former Junior Engineer in the Jal Shakti (PHE) Department, Sub-Division Pulwama, is suspected of illegally accumulating substantial wealth, including movable and immovable properties, along with significant cash deposits in his own name and in the names of his family members.

An official spokesperson stated that a thorough verification process had revealed assets disproportionate to Bhat’s legitimate earnings, prompting the registration of FIR No. 04/2025 at Police Station ACB Srinagar. Acting on the findings, the ACB, under the supervision of SSP Javid Hassan Bhat, conducted simultaneous search operations at two of the accused’s residential properties—one in Pehlipora Safapora, Ganderbal, and the other in Jawahar Nagar, Srinagar.

During the searches, officials seized incriminating materials, including revenue records and financial and banking documents, which are now being scrutinized as part of the investigation. The ACB has assured that the probe is ongoing, and further legal action will follow based on the evidence gathered.
