ACC approves extension of deputation for IAS officers Basharat Qayoom, Athar Aamir in AGMUT cadre
Two IAS officers granted one year extension to continue serving in the AGMUT cadre beyond February 2026
New Delhi, Feb 11: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has sanctioned a one-year extension of inter cadre deputation for IAS officers Basharat Qayoom and Athar Aamir-ul-Shafi Khan to the AGMUT cadre, which includes the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir. The decision was confirmed through official notifications issued by the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions.
Basharat Qayoom, a 2016-batch IAS officer from the Jharkhand cadre, will continue his tenure beyond February 23, 2026. The extension was approved through an order dated February 10, following a proposal submitted by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) in late January.
In a separate directive issued on February 6, the ACC cleared a similar one-year extension for Athar Aamir-ul-Shafi Khan, a 2016-batch officer of the Rajasthan cadre. His deputation will now remain in effect beyond February 15, 2026.
Both approvals were granted as a relaxation of the prevailing deputation policy, with the DoPT formalising the orders after receiving the committee’s consent.
