Air India Alerts Passengers to Possible Flight Delays Amid Dense Fog
Airline advises travellers to check flight status as low visibility impacts Delhi and other northern airports
New Delhi, Dec 18: Air India on Wednesday cautioned passengers about possible disruptions to flight operations over the next few days due to dense fog, particularly at its primary hub in Delhi and at several airports across northern and eastern India.
The airline said reduced visibility conditions could result in delays or cancellations, with a cascading impact on its broader flight network. Issuing an advisory on social media platform X, Air India urged passengers especially during the ongoing holiday season to check their flight status before heading to the airport.
Travellers have been advised to monitor updates through the airline’s official website to plan their journeys more effectively.
Air India said it has taken several proactive measures to minimise fog related disruptions, including enhanced operational planning and improved coordination with ground handling teams. However, the airline acknowledged that sudden cancellations or extended delays may still occur if fog conditions intensify.
The airline assured passengers that ground staff will be available round-the-clock at airports to assist travellers and facilitate alternative arrangements wherever possible.
Air India also highlighted its ‘FogCare’ initiative, under which passengers booked on flights likely to be affected by fog will receive advance alerts on their registered mobile numbers. Under the facility, eligible passengers can reschedule their flights without additional charges or opt for a full refund without penalty.
Appealing for patience and cooperation, the airline reiterated that the safety and well being of passengers and crew remain its top priority while managing weather related operational challenges.
