Airstrike Devastates Eslamshahr, 13 Dead in Iran Conflict
Strikes target Eslamshahr, Tehran university zone, and Qom amid escalating tensions and unclear military objectives
Dubai, Apr 6: A series of early morning airstrikes struck multiple locations in Iran on Monday, leaving at least 13 people dead in a residential area near Eslamshahr, a city southwest of Tehran, according to Iranian media reports.
Semiofficial agencies reported that a residential building was hit, though the intended target remains unknown. The attack comes amid heightened regional tensions, with no immediate claim of responsibility from either Israel or the United States.
In Tehran, explosions were also reported around the Sharif University of Technology. Local media indicated damage to nearby structures, including a natural gas distribution facility adjacent to the campus. The university premises were largely vacant as institutions across Iran have shifted to online learning due to the ongoing conflict.
Over the years, the university has faced international scrutiny and sanctions for its alleged links to Iran’s missile development programs, often associated with the Revolutionary Guard. Security forces are believed to be operating from alternative locations as key bases continue to face repeated strikes.
Separately, another airstrike reportedly hit a residential neighbourhood in Qom, a major religious centre south of Tehran, killing at least five people. Details about the intended target in that strike remain unclear.
Authorities have yet to release updated figures on overall casualties or material damage from the continuing hostilities, maintaining limited disclosure on the broader impact of the conflict.
