Ajit Pawar, Three Others Die in Aircraft Crash Near Pune
Officials assess situation after aircraft incident during landing in Baramati.
Pune, Jan 28 : Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and several others were killed in a plane crash on Wednesday, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said. The aircraft, a Learjet 45 operated by VSR, was flying from Mumbai to Baramati when it crash landed at its destination around 8.45 am.
According to the DGCA, Pawar was travelling with two staff members a personal security officer and an attendant along with two crew members, including the pilot-in-command and the first officer. The aviation regulator said there were no survivors.
Kiran Gujar, a close aide of Ajit Pawar, confirmed the deaths to new agency and said he was present at the local hospital where the bodies of the victims were taken following the crash.
