Seminar highlights need for value-based education rooted in Indian culture, say speakers

New Delhi, Nov 22 : The divisional level seminar of the Indian Education Board was held at the Kalyan Singh Habitat Centre in Aligarh at 2:00 pm on November 20, 2025. The event brought together education leaders, school representatives, and officials from across the division.

The keynote speakers included Dr. N.P. Singh, former IAS officer and Chairman of the Indian Education Board; Mrs. Sangeeta Singh, Divisional Commissioner and Chief Guest; along with Special Guests Mr. Manoj Giri, Joint Director, Basic Education, and Mr. Rakesh Kumar.

The programme began with the traditional lighting of the lamp accompanied by Vedic mantras. In his keynote address, Dr. N.P. Singh spoke extensively about the relevance and growing need for the Indian Education Board. He emphasized that modern Western-style education lacks Indian cultural roots and value systems, contributing to a moral decline among students.

He noted that the Board’s mission is to develop quality, cultured, and virtuous children by integrating Indian culture, the Vedas, Shastras, Upanishads, the Gita, spiritual teachings, modern computer science, and environmental awareness. He urged school managers, principals, and representatives to affiliate with the Indian Education Board to help shape a strong, cultured, and globally leading India.

Addressing the gathering, Divisional Commissioner Sangeeta Singh stressed that instilling values in children is the combined responsibility of parents and teachers, though the educational environment also plays a significant role. She said society must not be swayed merely by schools with large modern buildings, and called for a return to ancient Vedic cultural foundations. She encouraged schools to affiliate with the Indian Education Board and parents to enroll their children accordingly.
