All-Party Meeting in Jammu Demands Immediate Rollback of Centre’s Orders and Restoration of Statehood Before Elections
Leaders Unite in Jammu to Reject Centre's Amendment and Call for Prompt Return of Full Statehood and Peace
Jammu, 20-07-2024 : In a significant all-party meeting held in Jammu, representatives unanimously rejected the Centre’s recent orders and demanded a rollback of the amendment under Section 55 of the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Act, 2019 (34 of 2019). The participants also called for the restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir before the upcoming assembly elections.
During the meeting at the Jammu Press Club, heartfelt tributes were paid to the Indian soldiers who lost their lives in terrorist incidents in Jammu and Kashmir. Addressing the media, Gulchain Singh Chadhak, Sheikh Abdul Rehman, and Manish Sahni, the state chief of Shiv Sena (UBT), jointly emphasized the unified decision to oppose the Centre’s orders.
The leaders gave the government an ultimatum until July 30 to reverse the amendment to the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Act. They also demanded the immediate announcement of assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir and the restoration of full statehood before the elections.
Manish Sahni announced the formation of a core committee to oversee the protest activities. He stated that if the demands are not met, a chain hunger strike will be initiated.
