Altaf Bukhari Asserts Open Engagement with BJP, Predicts Full Support in Due Time

Srinagar, 15-04-2024 : Altaf Bukhari, the President of the Apni Party, expressed his belief that a time will come when the entire Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will stand by him. Addressing questions about his interactions with BJP leaders at his residence in Srinagar, Bukhari emphasized his transparent approach, stating that all his actions are conducted openly in broad daylight. He confidently asserted, “When my day comes, the entire BJP will be with me. My moment has yet to arrive. Why fret? When I met the Prime Minister, I did so openly, and it was covered by the global media.”

Highlighting his party’s stance, Bukhari affirmed that the Apni Party would support political entities that restore statehood to Jammu and Kashmir and secure the release of youth, elders, and religious leaders from detention. He promised to divulge the names of such entities when the time is right.

Regarding the absence of candidates from the Jammu division in the upcoming parliamentary elections, Bukhari clarified that the Apni Party’s strategic decision is to contest from the Kashmir valley, leaving Jammu preparations focused on the forthcoming Assembly elections. The party has already nominated candidates for Srinagar and Anantnag Lok Sabha seats but has yet to name candidates for the remaining three seats, including two in the Jammu region.

Bukhari emphasized his commitment to truth, stating that the Apni Party supports those who speak it. Responding to allegations from National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah suggesting ties between him and Peoples Conference Chairman Sajad Lone, Bukhari clarified that his relations extend to all political parties, emphasizing an open-door policy towards cooperation. While expressing respect for Omar Abdullah, he also noted Abdullah’s decision to contest from Baramulla after leaving Srinagar.

In terms of party growth, Bukhari noted the increasing influx of members from across the Kashmir valley, encompassing men, women, and the youth.
