Ambani Announces ₹10 Lakh Crore Jio–Reliance Investment Plan Over Seven Years at AI Summit
Mukesh Ambani Unveils ₹10 Lakh Crore AI Investment Plan at India AI Impact Summit
New Delhi, Feb 19: Announcing a massive ₹10 lakh crore AI investment, Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani on Thursday said his group will deploy the capital over the next seven years to build advanced artificial intelligence infrastructure in India.
Addressing the India AI Impact Summit, Ambani said the initiative would mirror the telecom revolution sparked by Jio, promising to make AI affordable, accessible and scalable across sectors.
He described the global AI moment as a crossroads one route leading to concentrated and expensive intelligence systems, and the other toward inclusive, widely available technology. India, he asserted, must choose the latter path.
“This is not speculative capital chasing valuations. It is patient, disciplined nation-building investment,” Ambani said, emphasising that the funds would begin flowing this year.
He identified the high cost of compute power not shortage of talent as the primary hurdle in AI expansion. To address this, Jio Intelligence will develop sovereign compute capabilities, including gigawatt-scale data centres designed to support large-scale AI deployment.
Drawing parallels with the telecom revolution, Ambani said Jio had connected India to the internet era and would now usher the country into what he called the “intelligence era.”
The objective, he added, is to deliver advanced digital capabilities to every citizen, enterprise and public institution with the same reliability, scale and affordability that transformed mobile connectivity in the country.
