Amit Shah Directs Security Agencies to Intensify Anti-Terror Operations in J&K, Aims for ‘Zero Infiltration’
New Delhi, Feb 5: Union Home Minister Amit Shah has directed all security agencies to intensify their counter-terrorism efforts in Jammu and Kashmir with the objective of achieving zero infiltration. Chairing two high-level meetings in New Delhi, he reviewed the security situation in the Union Territory and emphasized the Narendra Modi government’s unwavering commitment to eliminating terrorism. Shah stated that the terror ecosystem in Jammu and Kashmir has been significantly weakened due to the sustained and coordinated efforts of the government. He stressed the need for a ruthless approach against infiltrators and terror operatives, ensuring that their networks are completely dismantled.
The Home Minister reiterated the government’s zero-tolerance policy against terrorism and urged all security agencies to remain vigilant and work in close coordination to uproot terrorist activities. He highlighted the critical role of the security forces in combating infiltration and directed them to take immediate and stringent action against terror elements. Addressing the growing concern of narco-terrorism, Shah pointed out that the narcotics trade is providing financial support to terrorist networks and emphasized the need for a strong crackdown on terror financing from drug-related activities. He instructed agencies to take swift and decisive action to disrupt these funding channels with the highest level of urgency.
In addition to strengthening counter-terror measures, the Home Minister directed the immediate recruitment of forensic experts to enhance the capabilities of the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) in line with the new criminal laws. He appreciated the efforts of the security forces for their proactive role in improving the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir and acknowledged their success in curbing infiltration, neutralizing threats, and ensuring public safety.
The review meetings were attended by Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, Director of Intelligence Bureau Tapan Deka, DGP of Jammu & Kashmir Nalin Prabhat, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, and senior officials from the Army, J&K Police, CRPF, and intelligence agencies. These back-to-back meetings marked the first time that the Home Minister held two consecutive high-level discussions exclusively focused on the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir. The meetings were convened in the wake of the recent terror attack in Kulgam, in which ex-serviceman Manzoor Ahmad Wagay was killed and his wife and niece were injured.
The government has reaffirmed its determination to eradicate terrorism from Jammu and Kashmir through a comprehensive approach, including coordinated intelligence operations, enhanced border security, and strict measures against terror financing. Security forces have been directed to maintain heightened vigilance and operational synergy to achieve the long-term goal of a peaceful and terror-free Jammu and Kashmir.
