Amit Shah Hails Next-Gen GST Reforms as Boost for Poor and Farmers
Union Home Minister hails PM Modi’s tax overhaul as a milestone for economic relief, self-reliance, and Navratri gift to citizens
New Delhi, Sep 22: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday lauded the rollout of the Next-Gen GST reforms, calling them a testament to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s unwavering commitment to serve the poor, youth, women, and farmers. The reforms, effective nationwide from Monday, aim to accelerate India’s economic growth while increasing savings and disposable income for citizens.
Shah highlighted that the historic reduction in GST rates on over 390 goods including daily essentials, healthcare products, electronics, educational items, and agriculture equipment will directly benefit households, farmers, and the middle class. He described the reforms as a “Navratri gift” to mothers and sisters across the country, bringing relief in sectors such as food, home building, automobiles, insurance, and medical services.
“From zero GST on life and health insurance, essential medicines, and diagnostic kits to reduced rates on oxygen, surgical instruments, and veterinary devices, the reforms ensure significant savings for citizens,” Shah said in posts on X in English and Hindi, using the hashtag #GSTBachatUtsav.
The Home Minister also urged citizens to embrace indigenous products, reinforcing the government’s vision of self-reliance and economic prosperity. He emphasized that the Next-Gen GST reforms not only ease the financial burden on households but also strengthen India’s path toward becoming a developed and self-reliant nation.
