Amit Shah Jabs Lalu and Sonia: “Both Want Their Sons in Power, But CM and PM Posts Aren’t Vacant”

At a rally in Darbhanga, Union Home Minister accuses RJD and Congress of corruption, highlights NDA’s welfare schemes and infrastructure push in Bihar.

Darbhanga (Bihar), Oct 29: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday launched a sharp attack on the INDIA bloc, saying that RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav wants to make his son Tejashwi Yadav the Chief Minister of Bihar while Congress leader Sonia Gandhi wants her son Rahul Gandhi to become the Prime Minister  but “both posts are not vacant.”

Addressing a public rally in Darbhanga, Shah described the opposition alliance as a “thug bandhan” (coalition of frauds) and accused both parties of large scale corruption. He alleged that Lalu Prasad was embroiled in multiple scams, including the fodder, bitumen, and land-for-jobs cases, while the Congress was responsible for corruption worth Rs 12 lakh crore.

Shah also said that the NDA government had taken strong action against the banned outfit Popular Front of India (PFI) and its members. “Do you think RJD will keep PFI members in jail if they come to power in Bihar?” he asked the crowd.

Highlighting the BJP-led government’s welfare initiatives, Shah said the Centre provides free ration to 8.52 crore people in Bihar, has formed a Makhana Board, and supplies 125 units of free electricity to domestic consumers.

Promising development for the region, Shah announced that Darbhanga will soon get a metro rail, while an airport has already been constructed and an AIIMS is under development. He also said a temple dedicated to Goddess Sita is being built in Mithila and all locations associated with her will be connected through the Ram circuit.

“The NDA government gave official recognition to the Maithili language and even translated the Constitution into Maithili. A Rs 500-crore centre is being built to preserve ancient manuscripts of the region,” Shah added.
