Amit Shah Suffered Food Poisoning, Now ‘Perfectly Fine’: Union Minister Pralhad Joshi

The Union Home Minister cancelled his scheduled engagements in Hubballi and Belagavi after falling unwell, with Union Minister Pralhad Joshi saying he experienced weakness following vomiting.

HUBBALLI, Sep 19: Union Home Minister Amit Shah suffered from food poisoning during his visit to Karnataka on Saturday, forcing him to miss two scheduled public events. Union Minister Pralhad Joshi later said Shah had recovered and was doing “perfect” after experiencing weakness.
Shah was scheduled to inaugurate a new academic building at KLE Jagadguru Gangadhar Mahaswamigalu Moorusavirmath Medical College and the 1,200-bed KLE Hospital and Medical Research Centre at Gabbur in Hubballi. However, he did not attend the programme after developing health issues.
KLE Society Chairman and former Rajya Sabha MP Prabhakar Kore told the gathering that Shah had remained at his hotel on doctors’ advice. He said the Union Home Minister had asked him to convey the message to those attending the event.
Shah had also been scheduled to visit Examba in Chikkodi taluk of Belagavi district to inaugurate the new headquarters of the Sri Beereshwara Cooperative Credit Society. The programme was cancelled following his illness.
Speaking to reporters in Examba, Joshi said Shah had suffered food poisoning and experienced vomiting, which left him temporarily weak.
“Amit Shah should have come here. He suffered ill health due to food poisoning,” Joshi said, adding that Shah was “perfect” by then.
Joshi said he and other leaders had been expected to attend the programme alongside Shah but proceeded with the event after his visit was cancelled.
The Hubballi programmes were later inaugurated in Shah’s absence by Joshi, Karnataka Medical Education Minister Sharan Prakash Patil, former chief minister Basavaraj Bommai, Belagavi MP Jagadish Shettar and Sri Gurusiddha Rajayogindra Swami of Shri Jagadguru Moorusavirmath.
Shah had reached Hubballi late on Friday as part of his Karnataka visit.
