Amit Shah to Begin Poll Strategy Visits to Four States Ahead of 2026 Assembly Elections

Home Minister to tour Assam, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu and Kerala to firm up BJP’s poll strategy

New Delhi, Dec 28 : Union Home Minister Amit Shah will begin a series of visits to four poll-bound states from Sunday to outline the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) strategy for the 2026 Assembly elections in Assam, West Bengal, Kerala and Tamil Nadu.

The outreach comes on the back of the NDA’s recent victory in the Bihar Assembly elections. A BJP leader said that following the Bihar win, Shah has drawn up an extensive roadmap for the upcoming Assembly polls in the four states.

According to party sources, Shah will visit Assam on December 28 and 29, followed by West Bengal on December 30 and 31. He is scheduled to travel to Tamil Nadu in the first week of January and Kerala in the second week of January. The Home Minister is expected to spend at least two days every month in each of these states until the elections are held. Three of the four states are currently ruled by non-NDA parties.

During the visits, Shah will focus on strengthening the party’s booth level organisation, with special emphasis on Panna Pramukhs and the implementation of the ‘Mera Booth Sabse Majboot’ campaign. Organisational meetings and interactions with party workers are also planned.

Party sources said the BJP aims to replicate its strong performance in Bihar, despite what it described as a misinformation campaign by the Mahagathbandhan over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

The visits will also involve assessing ground level political sentiment, identifying key local issues and preparing counter narratives to opposition attacks. The BJP is simultaneously working on a strategy to counter what it calls the “politics of falsehood” by rival parties on issues related to employment, welfare schemes, electoral processes and other socio-economic matters.
