Actress reveals how industry politics tried to pull her down, shares lessons from her debut days
Bollywood actress Amrita Rao has opened up about the challenges of navigating industry politics, recalling a pivotal incident from her early career. Speaking on ‘The Ranveer Show’, Amrita shared how a magazine cover shoot celebrating her debut film Ishq Vishk (2003) took an unexpected turn.
“I was seated with the award, Shahid Kapoor was standing behind me, flanked by two superstar actresses. It was supposed to be my first big magazine cover!” she said. However, when the magazine was released, she was shocked to see that her image had been digitally pushed to the background, with someone else featured in the foreground.
Reflecting on the experience, Amrita said, “The world out there is always trying to pull you down. You have to be ready for it. Politics is everywhere—schools, colleges, society meetings—and you have to learn to handle it.”
Despite the early setbacks, Amrita’s career continued to flourish with hits like Main Hoon Na (2004), Vivah (2006), and Jolly LLB (2013). She recently returned to the franchise, reprising her role in Jolly LLB 3 alongside Arshad Warsi.
Amrita’s candid account highlights the realities of Bollywood and the resilience required to thrive in a highly competitive industry.
