Amritsar Police Seize Over 42 Kg Heroin in Major Drug Bust
Two Arrested as Narcotics and Weapons Seized in Coordinated Operation
Chandigarh, Jan 29: Punjab Police on Thursday seized over 42 kg of heroin along with four hand grenades, ammunition, and a firearm in Amritsar, marking a significant breakthrough in the state’s anti-narcotics drive.
Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said the operation, conducted by Amritsar Rural police with support from the Village Defence Committee (VDC), led to the recovery of 42.983 kg heroin, four hand grenades, a Star Mark pistol, 46 live .30 bore cartridges, and an abandoned motorcycle.
“Following the operation, two individuals, both residents of Amritsar, have been arrested in connection with the seizure,” Yadav confirmed in a statement on X.
Authorities added that further investigations are underway to identify absconding suspects, verify the chain of possession, and uncover the broader conspiracy behind the drug and arms consignment.
